Institute of Crop Sciences of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS-ICS) has seven experimental stations located at CAAS, Changping, Shunyi, Langfang, Hainan, Xinxiang, and Gongzhuling respectively). The main responsibilities include field experiments for cultivation of high-yield, high-quality, multi-resistant crop varieties and supporting cultivation techniques, conservation of crop germplasm resources, trait identification and species quarantine under filed conditions, national regional experiments and presentation of new varieties of Ministry of Agriculture. From 2003, a relative full-equipped experimental station system has been established, and become one of the most important supporting conditions for technological innovation in crop science.

Currently, the experimental farms have 15 faculty members and 120 employees, of which three have the vice senior technical titles. Heads of experimental stations and supporting personnel are responsible for the daily management. Experimental stations have established a sound test field management system and present a high level of organizational capacity and technical management of field trials.

In specific, the facilities include cultivated lands up to 4332 mu, net houses 31,073 m2, greenhouses 7590 m2, open courtyards 15,500 m2, as well as 142 sets of farm machinery and implements with power (including imported and domestic ones), and the building area 12,496 m2 . In 2012, these farms undertook 141 (times) field trial tasks for ICS and other organizations, and the total test area amounted to 3446.3 mu.

In line with the spirit of service-oriented research, the experimental stations explore the appropriate and roads of development. In an open attitude and keeping pace with the times, they continue to improve farm management and operating environment and optimize work tools, in an effort to create a great platform for field trials of agricultural research and achieve high-yield, quality, efficient, and safe agricultural production in farms, so that they can better serve for scientific research and drive ahead the innovation in crop science.
