Education Background
1982.9-1986.7: Huazhong Agricultural University, China, BS degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics.
1997.2-1999.2: Adelaide University, Australia, MS in Agricultural Biotechnology.
2001.9-2004.6: China Agricultural University, China, PhD in Crop Genetics and Breeding
Research Area
Dr. Yang Qingwen was the leader of the Research Group of Wild Rice Genetic Resources at the Research Center of Crop Germplasm Resources in the Institute of Crop Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Dr. Yang Qingwen was responsible for organizing research projects on wild rice related areas such as collection, evaluation, ex-situ conservation and in-situ conservation. He was also engaged in studies on gene mapping, gene cloning from wild rice resources, and the origin and evolution of Asian Cultivated rice based on comparing genome sequence of wild rice with cultivated rice. As the Chief Technical Advisor of a GEF sponsored project “Conservation and sustainable utilization of wild relatives of crops” implemented by UNDP and Chinese government, he was responsible for leading an expert group to do practices of in-situ conservation of wild rice, wild soybean and wild relatives of crops with mainstreaming approach in China and achieved great success.
Dr. Yang Qingwen also provided technical support for ministries of Chinese government such as MOA, MOEP, MOST, SFA etc. to carry out some international cooperation projects such as CBPF (China Biodiversity Partnership Framework), ECBP (Europe-China Biodiversity Program) etc.
