Dwarf-male-sterile wheat and its application in wheat breeding (The First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress in 2010): The breeding method which based on dwarf-male-sterile wheat has improved wheat breeding efficiency significantly and is widely used in China. By using this method, 42 varieties have been released, in which Lunxuan987 got a yield record of 10.73 ton per hectare in the National List Trial, and the total growing acreage of the new varieties was 12.3 million hectare, increasing grain by 5.6 million ton. A great number of elite lines developed by the dwarf-male-sterile wheat method are in the New Variety List Trial and Demonstration Trial at present, showing a greater potential in the application of the new breeding method in the future.
