The Second International Wheat Congress will be Postponed to September 2022 in Beijing, China
The International Wheat Congress (IWC) is a biennial wheat academic event with high international visibility and great academic influence, which is combined with the International Wheat Genetics Symposium (IWGS) and International Wheat Conference (IWC). The first IWC was successfully held in Saskatoon, Canada in July 2019, while the second one was originally scheduled to be held in Beijing in September 2021. Due to the global outbreak of COVID-19, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) decided to postpone the Congress. After consulting with the International Organization Committee (IOC), we here announce that the Second IWC will be held in Beijing International Convention Center during September 12-16, 2022, and the Third IWC to be hosted by Australia will be postponed to 2024.
The second IWC will invite well-known international experts and scholars to delivery academic speeches , in the fields of wheat research including wheat diversity, evolution and genetic resources; structural and functional genomics of wheat and its relatives; new technologies for breeding and physiology; wheat production system - environment, sustainability and management; production security - biotic and abiotic stress resistance; wheat application - function, nutrition, safety and human health; wheat trade and international cooperation, etc. The Congress will be live-streamed on its website and several social medias. In addition, the posters presentation, field visits, cultural and social events will make the event more colorful.
