Crop Science Society of China and South Korea sign MOU

  On July 25, Prof. Zhai Huqu, President of the Crop Science Society of China (CSSC), and Prof. Liu Chun-ming, Secretary General of the CSSC and Director General of the Institute of Crop Sciences (ICS), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), met with a delegation led by Prof. Sun-Hee Woo, Chairman of the Crop Science Society of South Korea. Both parties exchanged views on comprehensively strengthening the cooperation in agricultural science and technology in Asia, including northeast Asia, and reached a consensus on advancing the cooperation. Zhai Huqu and Sun-Hee Woo signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on behalf of respective societies.

  

  Zhai and Liu welcomed the visiting delegation led by Prof. Woo. Liu introduced the basic information of the ICS as well as its latest achievements in scientific research. He pointed out that the Crop Science Society of China and South Korea have a long history and a solid basis for cooperation, adding that both parties should further deepen their cooperation in innovation of agricultural technology, personnel training and hosting large-scale international conferences in the future.

  Professor Woo agreed with Liu, saying that both parties enjoy broad prospects for cooperation. Woo also warmly invited Chinese experts to visit South Korea.

  The delegation also visited the National Crop Gene Bank of China and the technology showroom of the ICS. Jung-Rok Choi, Agricultural Counsellor of the South Korean Embassy in China, Jiang Xiaoruo, Deputy head of the Division of Asian-African Affairs under the Department of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Zhang Huijie, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, CAAS, and other leaders also participated in the above activities.
